Cigarette Smoking vs. War Hero

See this piece from Sky News:

Footage of John McCain being interviewed as a bedridden prisoner during the Vietnam War has been released by the French national archive.

John McCain

McCain, who was filmed smoking, was emotional during the interview

The video portrays the Republican as a hero but the message may be tarnished as he is filmed smoking a cigarette.

“The message may be tarnished as he is filmed smoking a cigarette,” Oh.  My.  G-d.  They can’t be serious.

  1. What journalist would even write that? They must have been REAAAAAAALY desperate to meet a minimum word count. It’s awesome that the French National Archive released the footage, though.

  2. Argh… My comments are going to spam again.

  3. yup, it’s not the cigarette smoking that upsets me – it’s that he attempted suicide several times. oh well.

  4. It’s amazing how biased the media is. Why don’t they post topics like “Where is Obama getting all the money to fund his tax-cutting proposals?”

  5. However if he still smoked, that would make him more popular in France. Which could be the end of his campaign. But he’s said many times he quit 20 years ago. I can’t believe I’m defending him. I was a bit disgusted to read he was talking about how he loves and misses his family almost brought to tears. Knowing he dumped them as soon as he saw his wife was crippled…he’s a pig.
