Two More For You

October 28, 2008 · 2 Comments

As I Was Saying

Lyvvie’s Limelight

Two great blogs.  If I had more time, I’d tell you why, but if I don’t leave right now I’m going to miss my train and Mrs. LNU will be pissed at me.  Which, as much as I want to tell you how wonderful these two are, is just not worth it.

So go read, and say that Hank sent you!

So Lonely

October 28, 2008 · 7 Comments

No one referred anyone to me today.  Zero.

Of course, only seven people would know it.

Not a banner traffic day at the LNU home today.

Tomorrow is going to be a tough day, for reasons I cannot get into.

UPDATE, Tuesday at 4:30pm: wow, based on the referral from Hotfessional, and regular traffic, you guys made yesterday my highest-traffic day ever.  Thanks.

Cigarette Smoking vs. War Hero

October 23, 2008 · 5 Comments

See this piece from Sky News:

Footage of John McCain being interviewed as a bedridden prisoner during the Vietnam War has been released by the French national archive.

John McCain

McCain, who was filmed smoking, was emotional during the interview

The video portrays the Republican as a hero but the message may be tarnished as he is filmed smoking a cigarette.

“The message may be tarnished as he is filmed smoking a cigarette,” Oh.  My.  G-d.  They can’t be serious.

It wouldn’t shock me if he was feeling a bit…crabby.

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

October 10, 2008 · 4 Comments

Just wandering around while watching One Tree Hill (shut it.  I’ve heard them all).

And through J and J Acres, I came across a Twitter of Jessica.  And what do I see?

“Arrr! it be talk like a pirate day! (which is really difficult in german)”

I’m so following her Twitter updates now.  And I’ll be reading her blog too.  So should you.

The Tex-Pat.

Thank me later.

Mrs. LNU

October 10, 2008 · 3 Comments

Let me tell you how great my wife is.

She and I had a big fight a long time ago when I was blogging on another blog.  I went out and met some other bloggers.  She was not a real fan of that.  In fact, she was downright pissed.  Majorly pissed.

You know how some people just don’t get blogging?  She’s one.  She just doesn’t get it.  Doesn’t understand at all why I—or anyone, really—blogs.

I generally keep my blogging from her.  Not that there’s anything inappropriate here, or in any email correspondence under the Hank LNU gmail address.  And it’s not like I hide it.  I just don’t talk about it.

The other day, she went on the computer (to give you some idea, she just this year got her first email address) and my  blog email was up on the gmail.  She called and asked why some strange person’s email was on the computer.  I told her it was mine, she asked me if I still blogged.  I said yes.  She seemed a little weird about it.

Then she left me a message on my answering machine saying that it was fine and that she trusted me and it wasn’t a problem.

How cool is she?

And, Internet, am I wrong?

In Seattle

October 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m Seattle blogging today and tomorrow.  I just spent a couple of hours at the Pike’s Market, or whatever it’s called here.  I call it “Tzochkie Heaven.”  If you don’t know what a tzochkie is, you don’t speak enough Yiddish.

In a bit I’m going to post a picture I took…absolutely hilarious (at least in what laughingly passes for my mind).

The Most Inept Salesman

October 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

So you need some background on this one: about 2 years ago my company had an employee discount on Carnegie Hall tickets, and there was a chamber music festival going on, and I thought it would be nice to take Mrs. LNU out for a night.  Dinner and chamber music.  Romantic, right?  Never been to Carnegie Hall before or since.

So today I got a call on my cell phone—my cell phone, mind you—from a Carnegie Hall salesman saying that since I was “a preferred patron” of Carnegie Hall, he’d like to sell me on this season.  He went on and on about how I was a “preferred patron.”

I was like, “dude, I went there once.  Two years ago.”  He was all “we have a lot of great seats, what would you like to hear?  I have the Australian Chamber Music whatever with whoever conducting.”  I wanted to yell at him, “Dude!  I went there ONCE!  Two years ago!  And now you’re calling me on my CELL!  How the hell did you even get this number??”

What I actually said was “I don’t think we’d be interested.  But thanks for the offer.”

I’m such a telesales wuss.
